Information You Submit
A name, phone number, or address entered in a search form is sent to the outside provider that supplies that result path. Our servers do not retain a copy of those searches. If you contact us, we receive the information in your message and use it to respond.
Automatic Technical Data
Hosting systems create routine logs, including IP address, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps. We review aggregated information to maintain the service and understand page use. Cookies or comparable tools may support basic analytics and, when used, advertising measurement.
How We Use Information
Information is used to run the service, address technical problems, measure traffic, and improve the reference pages. We do not sell lists of visitors or create profiles of individual users.
External Services
Links lead to Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts, library, archive, and outside search services. Their own privacy notices apply to information submitted through those services. Sponsored-result functions are also supplied by an outside company.
When Information Is Shared
Hosting and support providers process server logs on our behalf. Analytics and advertising partners may receive the automatic technical information described above. Information is otherwise disclosed only when valid legal process requires it.
Security Practices
The service uses an encrypted connection, and logs are retained only for the operational purposes described above. Because there are no site accounts, there is no visitor password or profile stored here.
Visitors Under 18
This service is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. Contact us if a minor has sent information so it can be deleted.
Your Information Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to ask for access, correction, or deletion of personal data a service keeps. Since Boston Residents Directory keeps very little, a request generally involves reviewing the contact mailbox and relevant server logs, then removing responsive information. Use the Contact page to ask. Massachusetts Public Records Law, M.G.L. c. 66 ยง10, concerns records held by public custodians; requests about government-held records must go to the agency that has them.
Changes to This Policy
Any revision will appear on this page. Continued use after a posted update indicates acceptance of the revised policy.
